A. Account Terms

1. You must be a human. Accounts registered by "bots" or other automated methods are not permitted.
2. You must provide your name, a valid email address, and any other information requested to complete signup.
3. Your login may only be used by one person. Each user must create a separate login.
4. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
5. You are responsible for all content and activity that occurs under your account.
6. You may not use the Service for illegal or unauthorized purposes.

B. API Terms

1. Use of the API, whether registered or unregistered, is bound by these Terms and additional specific conditions.
2. ioChem-BD is not liable for damages resulting from your use of the API or third-party products accessing it.
3. Excessive or abusive API requests may result in suspension or termination of access.
4. ioChem-BD reserves the right to modify or discontinue API access at any time.

C. Cancellation and Termination

1. You are responsible for properly canceling your account by contacting us from your registered email or phone.
2. Your published content will not be deleted unless you specifically request it by providing the DOI or URL.
3. ioChem-BD reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at its sole discretion.

D. Modifications to the Service

ioChem-BD may modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable for modifications, suspensions, or discontinuances.

E. Copyright and Content Ownership

1. You retain intellectual property rights over your uploaded materials. Publicly available materials may be shared and copied under the Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 license.
2. ioChem-BD may remove or refuse content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
3. You indemnify ioChem-BD against claims arising from your content or use of the Service in violation of these Terms.

F. General Conditions

• You must acknowledge the use of BSC facilities in your publications with: "The author thankfully acknowledges the storage resources at BSC provided to ioChem-BD".
• We may publish the existence of your institutional user account, but not disclose personal data.
• Support is available in English and Spanish via email.
• You may not exploit or misuse the Service without express written permission.
• Abusive behavior toward ioChem-BD staff or users may result in termination.
• Transmission of spam, malware, viruses, or harmful code is strictly prohibited.
• Bandwidth abuse may result in throttling or suspension.
• The Service is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind.

G. Data Protection

We process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU Regulation 2016/679) and Spain’s LOPDGDD (Organic Law 3/2018).

Your rights under GDPR/LOPDGDD include:

• Access, rectification, and erasure of data
• Restriction and objection to processing
• Data portability
• Withdrawal of consent

H. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain. Disputes shall be submitted to the courts of Tarragona, Spain, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rights in your country of residence.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with the new “last updated” date. Material changes may also be notified by email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acceptance.
